Big Rigs & L.A. Traffic

Getting stuck behind a freight truck while driving is never ideal, especially when you're sitting in traffic. Many states are trying to alleviate traffic issues, especially in California. In a new report, the 710 and 5 freeways are 2 out of the top 15 freight impacted areas in Southern California. These trucks are causing traffic delays on the road and researchers analyzed the back up during peak hours. Here is how it's broken down:

The California Trucking Association says that operating during non-peak hours complicates the shipment process. Someone has to receive the package during those off hours which can change delivery times. The association stresses that there needs to be more truck parking for drivers to take breaks.

Finding areas for extra parking can be more difficult than it seems. It all depends on who owns the property that will be used for the parking spaces and if trashcans and restrooms will be provided.

Many drivers and Los Angeles locals are hoping for a change. The freight mobility plan for California will be available to the public by Summer 2019.
